即使未到有效期，只要產品出現以下情況，已可稱為「變了質」︰- 怪味- 發霉- 水油分離（常見於粉底）- 凝固、出現結塊- 變色- 形態改變（如液體變了啫喱水狀）如有以上的情況出現，你可將產品直接送到垃圾桶了。但如只是過了期而未出現以上的情況，你仍可善用產品以減低浪費。
