PLLA早已被醫療界應用逾30年，自1999年起歐洲多國廣泛應用PLLA為醫學美容療程的注射式填充物。2009年美國食品及藥物管理局(FDA)正式核准其改善法令紋(笑紋)等美容的成效。由2005年至2010年間，全球已超過120萬人次接受療程。2010年，世界級藥廠sanofi-aventis把PLLA定名為品牌Sculptra塑然雅並引進香港。

<p>為達最佳效果，療程通常會分為多節進行，平均為3節，每節相距時間約為4至6星期，即是說整個療程只需2-3個月。但由於每人對療程反應不同，有關細節需向醫生查詢。 </p>
PLLA療程的賣點是「自然」 - 能激發人體本身自然骨膠原增生，而且效果自然漸進持久，難怪半年間已成為香港醫學美容界新寵了。
