<p>1911年冬，孫中山從海外歸來，於翌年1月1日就任臨時大總統。與此同時毛澤東參加了光復新軍。很快，袁世凱憑藉強大的軍事實力和在皇室中的威信，從孫中山手中取得了大元帥之身份，北洋民國政府成立。同年10月，國民黨成立。<br><br>1914年夏天第一次世界大戰爆發，1915年袁世凱與日本定下密約二十一條並且更改國體，自封為中華帝國皇帝，自此走上了一條不歸路。孫中山與蔡鍔成護國軍，出師討袁。很快袁世凱便在舉國聲討中黯然死去了。之後又隨著張勳復辟的失敗，中國進入了軍閥割據的混戰局面。<br><br>而毛澤東、李大釗、周恩來等人雖身處不同地方，但都在內心思索著救國救亡之路，命運的會即將到來。<br><br>1919年夏天，轟轟烈烈的「五四運動」爆發了。經歷了以上種種，中國的進步青年們發現西方列強完全不住，而列寧的成功如今卻如同一盞明燈，為他們指引了方向......</p>
