<p>明朝末年，朝政腐敗，奸臣當道，外族後金乘機崛起，戰爭一觸即發。 在西北邊境，飢荒連綿，魔教妖女練霓裳為救災民，與拘殺災民的官兵廝殺，卻被官員嫁禍成殺害總督卓仲廉之凶手，霎時間練霓裳及其魔教變成通緝目標。<br><br>另一方面，名門武當派紫陽道長推舉弟子卓一航為新任掌門，並帶紅丸到北京進貢聖上。皇帝吃紅丸後一命嗚呼，朝廷錦衣衛全力捉拿卓一航。 此時，卓已經離開北京到達西北，一次偶然救助饑民時見識練霓裳狠辣的手段，兩人不打不相識。<br><br>卓跟從練回到明月寨，這個被外面官員稱之為「魔窟」的地方，其實是世外桃源，卓見識練的處事魅力及俠義精神，兩人情難自禁墜入愛河，更互許終身。 <br><br>錦衣衛攻入明月寨捉拿卓一航，同時揭發練乃殺害卓仲廉-即卓一航爺爺之凶手，卓心痛離開後被扔進大牢，紫陽道長為保卓跳崖自盡。卓繼而脫離武當，投靠奸黨，娶奸臣之女。<br><br>練收到消息大鬧新房，執劍向卓心臟刺去……一夜間，練之黑髮被白色無情吞噬…… 一個垂死的朝代，兩個注定的戀人，他們的緣分能否超越正邪，共渡生死？</p>
